Michelle Wellington Named Young Professional of the Year

Michelle Wellington has been an integral part of the Wellington Young Professional Organization since it's inception.   The success of 2019 was largely due to Michelle's constant availability and dedication to each project, fundraiser and event.

We coordinated many events throughout the year including 3 Lunch and Learns, Easter Egg Fundraiser, Ballet in the Park, Movie Nights at the Regent, a Halloween Pub Crawl, the Women of Wellington Awards partnering with the Social Sisterhood of Wellington; and we can’t forget about our biggest fundraisers and events during the Kansas Wheat Festival the Golf Ball Drop and the Tastes of Kansas Beer, Wine, and Spirits Tasting.

These events made it possible for us to makes several local donations including a book scholarship to a graduating WHS Senior, Operation Holiday, Middle School Tailgate Party hosted by the WRC, the Chamber Golf Tournament, and a Christmas Party for the kids at Aahn’s Place.

None of this would have been made possible without the never ending energy and drive of the 2019 Young Professional of the Year honoree. She was one of the original members of the Young Professionals and has held many different titles within our group. She has worked tirelessly to keep our group moving forward by volunteering and running events such as the Ballet in the Park and the Easter Egg Fundraiser. This past year she was a leader in bringing back the Women of Wellington Awards and brought us together with the Social Sisterhood of Wellington to make it happen, which was an event of the Women’s Division of the Chamber and recognizes women who volunteer, run businesses, and inspire people in our community.

Along with her duties with the Young Professionals, she is also actively involved in several other local organizations serving with the Wellington Noon Lions Club, is a board member of Sumner County CASA, and is a member of the Social Sisterhood of Wellington and Crusader Club.  We are very proud to be affiliated with the Young Professionals who are represented in part by such an exemplary woman.  Congratulations to Michelle Wellington!
