Sumner County Economic Development Commission Board Member Honored

~~The Sumner County Economic Development Commission held its annual Retreat/Planning Session January 14th at the Belle Plaine City Hall.  During the meeting Chairman John Cooney (Oxford) presented John Brewer (Mulvane) with a plaque in appreciation of his years of serving on our Board.  John served for six years and his time and commitment to the Board is greatly appreciated.  Kent Hixson, City Administrator, will be replacing John as the new representative for Mulvane.

New Business in Sumner County

~~The Sumner County Economic Development Commission would like to welcome Gulf South Rail Cars as a new business in our county.  Gulf South Rail Cars services Tank Cars, Hopper Cars, Box Cars, Auto Rack Cars and PD Cars. With adding a Kansas location, Gulf South offers services in 17 states. All locations offer Repairs to Cars either at Repair tracks, Mini-shops or by Mobile repairs. The Sumner County location will provide service as a Mobile Repair operation.  The company began in 1980 and their staff has over 60 years of experience in repairs and service.

Sumner County Economic Development seeking part-time administrative assistant

The SCEDC is seeking a part-time administrative assistant to assist the Director with all aspects of the day to day operations of the SCEDC office.  Duties will include, but are not limited to, database and website maintenance, conducting Internet research, assisting with proposals, projects and grant writing, recording minutes for meetings, accounting duties, filing, maintaining Director’s calendar, answering phones, greeting clients, and attending meetings and seminars as needed.
